Like Javier Cañada always remembers on his podcast: “The medium is the message”. A quote written by Marshall McLuhan that reminds us that what we say is as important as where and how we say it. That’s why in an era of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, where machines have learned how to communicate like humans, I decided to launch a small and old-school blog.
My little grain of sand to bring us back to a simpler era. To think for a moment that this is 2004 and we’re going crazy about the idea of Apple launching an iPod with a phone. A blog written by a human on his laptop against the giant content farms fueled by the latest ChatGPT model that want to rank TOP 3 on Google. Nothing ambitious, nothing synthetic.
What are you going to talk about?
I would like to fill it with my adventures as an entrepreneur, developer, and Tech Aficionado. These past four years have flown by and I wish I would’ve had some type of diary. I hope this becomes the place where I collect my ideas, experiences, learnings, and things I’m passionate about. To start, here are the main categories:
- Code Chronicles: The adventure of a journalist turned into a software developer.
- The Workshop: A collection of my creative projects and the process behind them.
- Startup Saga: Chronicles of my entrepreneurial adventures and the quest for innovation.
- Gizmodo Grove: A peaceful retreat filled with curious gadgets and other things that spark joy and wonder.
- Miscellanea: For those bits and bobs that don’t fit neatly into other categories.
Why a blog?
I know, newsletters are the thing right now. I love them. I even started one a really long time ago when almost no one was doing one. But what I don’t really like is that the content only exists in the subscriber’s inbox. If you discover a great newsletter, it’s really difficult to read previous editions. The content only exists for that day and then is lost.
Also, there is a list of great blogs that have inspired me over the years: Daring Fireball, Kottke.org, David Smith, Nil Coalescing, Pol Piella, Sarunw, Swift With Majid, Six Colors, The Newsprint, 512 Pixels, Birtchtree, Initial Charge, Cabel.com, or Lmnt.me among others. I want Microbyte to be as creative, interesting, eye-opening, and opinionated as them.
I don’t know how much I’m going to publish here. I hope maybe a couple of times a month. I can’t promise a schedule, but what I can say is that I’ll try to make it as appealing as I can.
As an old-school blog, you can subscribe by RSS. But, if you really really want to receive all the content from the blog as a newsletter.
